From relaxed to sleek to wild cloud hair.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5198070348382940002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqbAUTF36TWwjlYjp38R4LfeIApfHWo445e-dWBGp38VyI1LbaHQ10hHOhSafMPOA5j961PqtY6D4lAgxcrznD7YovGNXsoWYPxNlMekhjFhTzrIc1TCdpN8n_KN2DARM7yAkQ9gCE6PsA/s400/10-lidir1.bmp" border="0" /> First are wavy locks. They aren't new or anything but they seem to be even more casual than before. The look's relaxed and effortless.<br /><br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5198070352677907314" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxbKGJrTX0nk7G_ZSC6qkD_xSRZYT6xAsC2hDI7pEgJL103gwIT24vIdwyVxZlkkhfLDsPyuOZHu3sc4kKNm4HWPCCLVXXJViH-rwmOMBjAFVMYStrQhz_XgjIqZzIe6zQrSGL5WpKQOy8/s400/10-skipting2.bmp" border="0" /> Partings were often to the side and the hair was shiny and healthy. It was both taken back to a loose ponytail or in a neat bun.<br /><br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5198070352677907330" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh18QfQsT7bwy_yUPzsYOQ_2P3wgh-KcvWIvFmRfa5jnDT-A6Zp2RGNAM9YQaUb6ws1KERAboyjlabia5B-XqSX7FAik87NYH7W-mIPz7Fo20-pgqDWeOMkHB5NbVa6ibfupkyohYAeVv7d/s400/10-ufid6.bmp" border="0" /> This was a popular trend, hair looked like clouds; frothy, oversized and over backcombed.Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-41096577463892826072008-05-08T10:33:00.000-07:002008-12-11T05:52:47.378-08:00Costume Institute Gala<div>Everyone's posting photos and opinions about the Costume Institute Gala, so I wanted to join and post a few of my favorite dresses worn by some lovely young ladies. </div><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5198066289638845266" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXbJ6NiD6eWe8ntI9EaxY4PjnMXMrzEQnEWxUQ0Qp7g9zPG-7buB9Wle71KhBy9SbiMLi57aCFxlKbWQJp7sXNBXL5O7AMfJ-2T0yD_T5WgiWKiGsUZ55Sd2vxyzId4T-OEzQJ4nWbgyo8/s400/metgala1.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5198066285343877954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixkJhhK75XQ8BzlonfTOuc9cE2vBEYHdNl-FCwt94cL_y_PTtvwXodNtukpbQG3cHAABO__QlkfbJkNwbNaIOjuFZbK96Ghgw12WIiEIsv1YctV_SC8a-NvXYZ6ztKvM65u0l3Yn4fmur2/s400/metgala2.bmp" border="0" /></div><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5198066281048910642" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvtZS4v73xU8ZFYWgR_LVLYZBZkjHt___UI2jisodpTblvuuGRjy-PboaTp6oIUBsN8TYha9azaHJC27KC8XjoTfju-uvfjDPiVReE6CbjRYWmDbQG3jXRHRXcRR0s26dNzpalc-9pEjSg/s400/metgala3.bmp" border="0" /></p><p> </p>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-28480513268609529782008-05-06T09:33:00.000-07:002008-12-11T05:52:47.667-08:00Greecian Dresses<div><strong>Well, I'm back and I want to start by apologizing for the lack of posting. And thank everyone for the lovely comments, it's amazing to know that people are looking forward to new posts!</strong></div><br /><div></div><div>But on with the fashion. I loved all the Greecian inspired dresses on the spring/summer runways. The draping and light fabrics make me think of ancient Greecian goddesses. The beautiful dresses came in all versions for spring; maxi length, knee-length, short, one-shoulder. The thing that I love about them is the femininity - the way they hug the curves. And if the shape is too wide, a waist belt can be a great way to make more drapes and chinch the waist. They were both in earthy tones and pastels, with bright colors in between. There's a lot of variety and the look is easy to copy. Though the dresses can be a little fancy they should also been worn on a sunny summerday with flats and a smile! </div><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197309083374075842" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE-8CalYCnK7ht4ScCW_2o63EjF3DZkQzYWyV5YdkK9kFdY5hxFPZ3YNLpAfpZZ_yGd7pIMEBwRem8YlEgsIQaMmmRpi7XDaTxhgDk_IoSUdoGxtnCbOhdGysfYWwsl1gg6gqQv0Hgt3th/s400/9-trendgriskt.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197309091964010450" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC2roDSqj1c9uSI6vnMuhHgEnicdUe8V4xqg4C0N1NhA-6h0qfPaKNqmj55bDP8zxBmYRa9NOL78VqfbpyovmpMuVG8w2YVId5rGS_MvcrD_BEmNVXszNpL8aQz34NyLsC6oL_3uB30zZy/s400/9-trendgriskt2.bmp" border="0" /></div><div> </div>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-66779456605903470142008-04-06T13:01:00.000-07:002008-04-06T13:04:24.016-07:00A BreakI'll be taking a break for a while. I hate to post crappy, short posts <em>just</em> to post something.<br />I'm just too busy at the moment and will probably be for a month or so.<br />I just wanted to let everybody know so they don't have to check for updates in the meantime. But be sure to check again in early May.<br /><br />Take care!Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-39681177871718727322008-03-19T06:23:00.000-07:002008-12-11T05:52:47.809-08:00Light Washed DenimDesigners showed a lot of light washed denim for spring. I think it's more suitable for summer paired with the sheer fabrics, florals and all the romance.<br /><br /><br />Alexander Wang showed denim with denim, which I would not like unless it's done in a light color. It somehow looked right. Christopher Kane kept things raw with a cropped denim jacket and some see through. Karen Walker's denim dress is a bit darker than the other two and a safer choice.<br /><br /><br />I don't think this trend will get overly popular, but with these young and talented designers, which collections have been praised, it's certainly going to be tried. We've already seen a few celebs wear it, like Sophia Bush, who stepped out in light wide leg jeans. It <em>is</em> a hard look since it's not as slimming as darker shades, but definitely more interesting for those sunny days.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179444022973756946" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo9w3jt2vsEhiWDQLNgsH-zktyTCVb9pUeZeDgkdmWm-fAq8GNEB6cBPHEgRvlH6CRSmUtpa2e_TuVpbLPEUATn4JInSF4FsB7Ctvh6d5J96VmkhsL4N90cW0cRdEo_sJ7LnBOiuoiEmss/s400/ljostgallefni.bmp" border="0" />Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-59230017125307353042008-03-18T12:46:00.000-07:002008-12-11T05:52:48.194-08:00Bambi & Batman<div align="center">Designers included a bit of humour into their spring/summer 08 shows<br /></div><div align="left"><strong></strong></div><br /><br /><div align="left"><strong>Cartoon characters:</strong> Bambi at Giles and Vivienne Westwood / Spongebob Squarepants at Louis Vuitton.<br /></div><div align="left"><strong>Superheroes:</strong> Batman at Luella<br /></div><div align="left"><strong>Animals:</strong> Horses at D&G / Dolphins at Stella McCartney</div><p></p><br /><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179171747816994242" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie2GCMdO6uhnFiH8Msg-s3PCuIf1jtv1xfCTq17q6BXlm4kCL4gmfxko4evvUxJAHWO0XZqJRjSodElX_ItWDq5Tx39sRPD8vEa0yAZ3ipukSfV6stwR_83cKgdZZMdliXiUMYtAOMLQnH/s400/fashionhumour.bmp" border="0" /></p>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-69412808002745931312008-03-18T12:33:00.000-07:002008-12-11T05:52:48.391-08:00Shopping the Star Trend<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkvRjjvUSCpNqJpbRegJT8jtcW0YJNJbpQ1lWE2USPiVFhCjfp0b8QggDZYaxA6bImYT3zbF7OcpbpTgtB579k3_w_50Ezv2YqAPzmrIfgoULQVmmZj2QYBt8xkLuDaP2-kIharxraIrhL/s1600-h/stjornur2.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179169080642303394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkvRjjvUSCpNqJpbRegJT8jtcW0YJNJbpQ1lWE2USPiVFhCjfp0b8QggDZYaxA6bImYT3zbF7OcpbpTgtB579k3_w_50Ezv2YqAPzmrIfgoULQVmmZj2QYBt8xkLuDaP2-kIharxraIrhL/s400/stjornur2.bmp" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Upper row, from left: <a href="http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Petite-Star-Print-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=211327&clr=Print&SearchQuery=star&sh=0">Petite Star Print Dress</a> $65 from Asos, <a href="http://www.asos.com/Asos/Star-Print-Tie-Neck-Blouse/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=278723&clr=Black&SearchQuery=star&sh=0">Star Print Tie Neck Blouse</a> $54 from Asos, <a href="http://www.asos.com/Asos/Star-Print-Mini-Ra-Ra-Skirt/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=276442&clr=Black&SearchQuery=star&sh=0">Star Print Mini Ra-Ra Skirt</a> $54 from Asos.</div><br /><div>Row below, from left: <a href="http://www.asos.com/Asos/Star-Print-Tea-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=272186&clr=Black&SearchQuery=star&sh=0">Star Print Tea Dress</a> $82 from Asos, <a href="http://www.revolveclothing.com/b/Product.jsp?code=JULI-WD6">Julie Brown Sophia Dress</a> $152 from Revolve Clothing, <a href="http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=19551&storeId=12556&productId=649724&langId=-1&categoryId=&parent_category_rn=">Star Print Shirt</a> £35 from Topshop.</div>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-76266704318237487422008-03-17T09:24:00.000-07:002008-12-11T05:52:49.641-08:00Stars<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178753735829943682" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq6z3qRgQlwar4sYlXTtuUliWoJh9ExchaqAFD7VxRI3K3mZGW-y5M3fw_xjNLpNbfjlx7EcefLE-bSYD23AB3pT2KUTAYFduD8ZsEWYHjHAjpf9XHbIdHT12QzaitKfRd0Oaskc0nSUcN/s400/stars-dianekruger-chanel.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>In the Chanel show for spring and summer, Karl Lagerfeld showed a lot of star prints mixed with red and white stripes. It all had this american dream vibe. Stars are now a big trend - designers like Karen Walker included a dress with mini star print in her summer collection. When they are done in print, stars have a playfull - almost childish attitude. </div><div></div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178753727240009058" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_KN7qc_nG1hhffWkKpD8j07IeoA4pQHKKci4Y84IG1WdM2sV9eTrXdhDEAgAVGc_ZpBmCIEM-XUG_Ttl_3H5egIgJ6_cpP8Ke97ZBATcLZm9s9FYDXAiK1k_ZBupOM9Pc4nvx6tvNsJOL/s400/chanel-karenwalker.bmp" border="0" /></div><br /><div>At Yves Saint Laurent stars played a huge part, mostly in detailing and embellishment. They were on belts, in necklaces, as buttons, on shoes and so on. Matthew Williamson also included a necklace with stars in the Pucci line.</div><div></div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178753735829943666" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3xxQ2utM5-UdKB81FEnFMCKQ3Zd2PclAT-9tPNSlNnvEgN647OcIEv1Iko0ascHKkRbcPYPoKykUE1VKxSELnroCf_5gM6RCxDttq6u98n8zX495QQiR04I2tZOOmgTZe8FkQvLpeGzo6/s400/ysl-emiliopucci.bmp" border="0" /></div><br /><div>Now the fall/winter shows are over and though stars weren't as popular as in the spring shows, Giles included a navy dress with cut out stars. The textures that I like the most are snakeskin and crocodile. It was seen on the spring/summer runways in a few different versions and celebrities have also been wearing this trend. I've seen them in a few high street stores but they often look pretty fake, especially when they're not in leather. I personally like the ones in vintage stores better. I'm loving colours like black, winered, navy and beige. For daytime I prefer them oversized and then a bit smaller for the evening.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178357915938911490" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBFz7ZPppgcwqs4DKeKfWgy9TRutz_Pxt2HxaiX_-oBsAgwvx7POUaV46QyGbWDiMa4fYxwxJot1qXBhp7zF0QE00a7wQxuh12xZoLBqWcQY9BqI0wEJgQZpQEHRkE9C9ugWkJHM1wHfxn/s400/clutches.bmp" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178357924528846098" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMAF89wMKpFE52YL6c-Pt19DEsu3FyVuAYwB8IqgStIxMdTOfdR-OWcivHhzf0fqKkpk2S9XQ4jrxQYGGjlBQrUveWlkrEDvLGWMrveWmHy3JeKfv_LkPTRBhsuEWde3qP_RygmaKSq9VZ/s400/clutches2.bmp" border="0" />Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-83912593441444707942008-03-14T16:14:00.000-07:002008-12-11T05:52:50.795-08:00Model StyleI love checking out the backstage photos of models on style.com when the fashion weeks are over. I think models often have an amazing style, they mix perfectly together basic (cheaper) pieces with designer ones. They're outfits are casual with jeans and tights / oversized t-shirts and knit sweaters / biker jackets and blazer jackets / boots and scarves. The color pallette isn't that exciting with black, grey, white and other earthy, basic tones. Thakoon had an irregular print that's a bit different.<br /><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172858403021786706" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAT5FDpZHJjw9dSMTKwFF14LpLKuI9n1nbv4PrGmbqVPU-0eASJlKGAS0OXMr_mwcqxW-qtMbFTiiJUNMC4oLX2HcB2Overj3VaSvlv0ksdrS1vaQW90Tp9tzOQdkrvMCMtcW8kL7OzrWg/s400/2sheerfabric.bmp" border="0" /> <div>Sheer fabrics are a bit hard to copy in real life, but they were all over the runways. I really like when a strong colour is worn underneath a see through fabric, as seen at Jil Sander.<br /><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172858403021786722" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglU9dRxbeobi7s1PAitZn28aCglCP6Wk86IZHW29ZTt-WIQZFY054X8Nmvp90oHihBX0gAIpciL4pIBMRHZEkvQdKK2-JXkHQodaHSpusTke1YBmc05inFtVq2WmNsoNmnm3Ax4poXFx8r/s400/4flareskirt.bmp" border="0" /> <div>Flared skirts that embrace the waist are going to be the skirt trend for summer. This time was no exception, we’re talking fur, glamour and amazing fabrics. Instead of reviewing each collection, I’m just gonna divide it into trends.<br /></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170223441088335378" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNoZAjvUZPZSOBdxkrD2J4FboXlJvJYFbBbh-GP_fa-z0Aji0kzvY2167EOIUJ7lPddpq1xMRkJexg4ufSC2i9a0H4D7ez1nJrW9MRu9DwExmO2xPQpmxM1DZnZf9L-HWydBeK3ugJcO00/s400/gucci.jpg" border="0" />At Gucci (above) there was a Russian inspiration with a mix of rock and bohemian feeling. Other collections with this look were Moschino and Roberto Cavalli.<br /><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170223432498400754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu8L9YLVD5Nwk8gRB6hLOPMsjto7D-lyNl-x7AOaZybBQ9VR4CXpmu3Pqtm7hyphenhyphenJ3c04AXmk87sjScsuda85f5SxaHXg_4CqI5gC8XLsZkjEpMjsAzSOYjgnCTc5ZazB-54zAe9sbUSZCLb/s400/bottegaveneta.jpg" border="0" /> <div>Coloured tights were at designers like Bottega Veneta (above), Emilio Pucci, Iceberg and Moschino. The colours were pretty mild at some shows and the shoes and even the whole look were often in the same colour.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170224214182448706" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRXHk-5VhNlcpWCILSHUHYR5r13_E1_IRPhNOFzFp_3mylAB-vIzS7_Wf0nqhMX18SEpkXSiLcQe-AVmRsZGAx6u4F884KH9-1tnyMGMThPuoA6fIyigyH2lPj61JgysPXlFVTR35aDfAE/s400/mauriziopecoraro.jpg" border="0" />I personally love the typical Italian prints by designers like Maurizio Pecoraro (above), Missoni and Matthew Williamson at Pucci.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170224209887481394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgTXwX2t_21JrksCdqMsxhCxjTL9t4aWv7MNBsVFq5wLAe4r9xpqQWC7mFf2RdIEHcS_tolZCwauO0Xx8SqB-mUcnCK4cASK_F37d1Rxt-sabx0GnSAXISXHkqoNKP3caj3RcAm9PFR7FR/s400/marni.jpg" border="0" />Furs were popular with the big fashion houses. They were a big part of the shows at Marni (above), Fendi and Gucci.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170223436793368066" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnFfbaz3-CnSxLrkPzn9zQHxt6BC5JC0qKuJ96e_J6YhDkBAVPcRmH349P70xBjnJ9_g_03VwFMLOc2v2DvxchztzuRKcsxKGW13yl9C5oDUEJab8dKZMyIeAMnSoOWySOxSGWOrhfWBJ7/s400/emiliopucci.jpg" border="0" />The snow look with fur collars and puffy parkas were seen at both Emilio Pucci (above) and Iceberg.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170224205592514082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn96MmBkoEJAVakh3-6eTERDi15864c4tfnrqGXcYzDYsABfy0Htarq5AsU2EiACUXomnTxkjuc6orG-67hBPL-wBIbv3glh5G9W43crhBc7Rr6oOsbcBbzB6XApw1FjIVHPqmF-U-dn74/s400/iceberg.jpg" border="0" />Iceberg (above), Roberto Cavalli and MaxMara all included chunky knitwear with interesting details like braids.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170225150485319266" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcX8jLGWdc52n7EXUtvBJrYuQ6x72QJE5lNhEfo52HURSRsLaotcy6z7MOxoP4VCr44rEnStWU2Us1S1uU-Dt5giFpkoBBySmi9lZsYaLek2ld5ZXFdy7l_8ZrExoxj8rO4PdHeLtpZlDd/s400/missoni.jpg" border="0" />It looks like the skating boot is going to keep on into next winter. At least they were seen at Missoni (above), Prada, Iceberg and Emilio Pucci. They were in most cases ankle boots, but in some shows they were at the knees.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170225150485319282" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQxSZoJ2goFe_AHU_emMqAhC2LWpfXcMbaivZafXUXK02PLsEm4noHUAwpKPnkK_nZlZ60WFWJNiF462KD8rIzku9Ls89DSDBeXusg9ZfVWeLqTCPWVt_vZAxfCio2MOw86S3Cskr98I8U/s400/prada.jpg" border="0" />The Prada show (above) was all lace. Other shows that included lace were La Perla, Roberto Cavalli and Versace.</div><div> </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170225146190351954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijWKHoFNMNkYR9u8KE9jF9bxstTPvPqIP1GxOVbZoQsGocRUbEfc0ErdcBpD0A055rSmFLvAZ4ui_6IrFjiawcsVrihnGJYgau8bOZ6LZaqwceZQfx_sm8VgXEY_fG_WyORkgm5ybbrAXz/s400/maxmara.jpg" border="0" /></div><div>It was quite a bit of glamour on the runways. MaxMara (above), were minimalism is the standard look, showed embellished sweaters and they popped up the collection. Other shows that had glamour were 6267, Alberta Ferretti and Derercuny.</div></div></div>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-36030149121946598702008-02-16T05:18:00.000-08:002008-12-11T05:53:00.802-08:00Street Style from New York<div><div>I loved going through all the street style pics that Scott from The Sartorialist posted on Style.com from New York Fashion Week. Because I get so much inspiration from other people and street style blogs. I piled together a few trends the amazing fashion people was working at the shows, so here you go...<br /></div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167574034677222802" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8sn_NkLdDFZPoSz-gA6xiofhNsmhXMxQa2I6cPEUXL3RRn5NfPZ_jddMT06OZcBOLsIN2AYTmxkhsnlks28KMmfWGdEFuWZ9RVHtZcHTIcODf93u3IL4hFi4N_8nudklJvq7Ta7FSOe8_/s400/streetstyle1.bmp" border="0" /> <div>At first, I loved all the pants. The girl on left is wearing amazing mustard cropped pants (and cropped pants are going to be a hit for summer). Mustard goes really well with navy and the light brown shoes. I thought the beige pants are the perfect style, not too baggy and not that tight. But since there has been so many reviews on other blogs, I'm just gonna make it a quick read with a few favourite looks from each collection.<br /></div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166468780678171954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxeavjNnJdQ8JE-X50HPCQ143SLYt9f773gITrrWBmVLuZYXCMAim2v3I2qry8V_e8zkOy-YwZjJI2R5-FYGS9E4-nnxR4fM-7se7rAPHThYipGEDBJdXubBCJJ9QeNd-B299ly-d6CHeA/s400/nyalexanderwang1.bmp" border="0" /> <div>Alexander Wang was dark and mysterious and I loved the kind of raw tomboy look. It was maybe a bit too slouchy for my taste as I liked the spring collection better, but it was still really good. Loved the leather vest and all the body-con skirts which gave a bit of femininity.<br /></div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166468789268106562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOhZgWcex5GeIa1niH6CqQUe-y6hfKbZv7hA4HulsKJ_fSPVnMufvYN1gIheHtLuNA5RcgrKPXyI057XMSb_fNcQupqKTW_6AmmuzlX5DmX0KzN3f4TZyYwKsdpGcbVIqSbima-moQQHbZ/s400/nybcbg.JPG" border="0" /> <div>From the darkness to the light and lovely collection of BCBG Max Azria. I loved all the mild colours, and the leather belts really gave the final touch to the outfits. Lubov Azria (BCBG's creative director) said backstage that the collection was wearable and clean, which is a good description, I think.<br /></div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166468797858041170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ_ugl0Kvt6aznXJ-0jEIRVMz0u6tBahuU3MEybUXpI6dwxyyIZMzTSsS_QyNI3QUDLC6PGEAqq_xPFlJbL26EicfuVvbEvuSO4wqrjM-7A-HX8W6PuPawlur0x1UwovFR9pyqBL1ZIN_i/s400/nybehnazsarafpour.bmp" border="0" /> <div>I didn't think that the whole collection itself was amazing at Behnaz Sarafpour, but there were many great outfits. The main thing I liked were all the colours and prints. Some pieces had an added glam to them, like the dress far right.<br /></div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166468797858041186" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu4hA0l-EFJLYyqTjFp8Wv6BYo_-Wj768wA8EZMh1Qefu5pDKdaSP3LKVMBUQJ9SVC5mO3kX8S0EIwJuyQrzhqbvVbBwzM-u7SleuyIOPgjusJfnrTSZfCUZKx_wi6nZTtKvACaMHkuvg_/s400/nyjeremylaing.bmp" border="0" /> <div>Jeremy Laing had basic shapes and cuts. The collection included both loose, almost oversized dresses and trousers and then also tight, body-con dresses. I loved the front zip on the dresses to right. It was a pretty simple collection, nothing too showy, but it also had really interesting pieces in between.<br /></div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166468802153008498" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglKtc8-fQcIexTWKHtz9koTUlnSqc6Lu5vxgb0sqxTxII33aYvWQWZuP6XiFQK_LKfYS58uagttdNOJhjIjs11qZpDaFNlqUr2ePDYM0QLOBfX0hkmjq5Gur-0Wo4UFsYmTWNyuj0coQUu/s400/nykarenwalker.bmp" border="0" /> <div>Oh my, how I loved Karen Walker. It was a bit 'messy', as the inspiration was children clothes from the Victorian and Edwardian eras mixed with street culture. The colours were bright with beautiful old floral prints. Walker is a master in mixing different looks and making it work and this show was no exception.<br /></div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166470700528553346" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuiy5aWyFxRsuP2NPdM4Z5nB3vzpMlUh8qqDwJwznJzVSOqKtc7iuHMhkBEUh_fcawg_4JnULrhG1aU9_X3yPvbGxyQ_h9V3sp2vvc0dBEoZTorDpP0BMHu1GtabpiKZ0CcU9s_D9ZLP_x/s400/nyyandkei.bmp" border="0" /> <div>Y & Kei's collection was romantic but nothing <em>too</em> frilly as the shapes were pretty classic. The florals had a modern twist and were a bit arty, like a beautiful painting. I loved the styling, the prints made a big statement when paired with all black.</div><div></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-size:78%;">Photos from </span><a href="http://www.style.com/"><span style="font-size:78%;">style.com</span></a></div></div>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-23872586004299323642008-02-09T07:09:00.000-08:002008-12-11T05:53:03.926-08:00Style Icon: Chloë SevignyLike you probably know by now, Chloë Sevigny, is a fashion icon. Her unique ways of mixing vintage and high fashion is what makes her outfits interesting.<br /><br />British Elle Magazine has hired Chloë as their style advisor, and for the next six months she will be answering letters about style for the magazine. She’s on the March cover with a interview and an awesome photoshoot inside.<br /><br />In the interview she says she studies all the fashion shows each season and then makes a list of all the things she likes. She also reads all the fashion mags and gets inspiration from books. She likes vintage shopping and visits many New York thrift stores to check out new stuff. She admits that sometimes it’d be easier to have a stylist. But she thinks it’s unfair that all the Hollywood stars get all the fashion credits ‘These people are celebrated for their style and they don’t even dress themselves.’<br /><br />Chloë has lots of fashion friends. She’s known Marc Jacobs since she was 17. They met 1992 when Marc worked at Perry Ellis and had just unveiled the remorable grunge collection. ‘He could easily do things that are just cute and wearable, but he’s always pushing the envelope.’ Among other friends in the fashion industry are the designers Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga, Stefano Pilati at YSL and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at Proenza Schouler.<br /><br />What could be her best fashion advice? ‘Knowing what’s good on you, wearing it with pride and having a certain confidence and swagger.’<br /><br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164999446596406450" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6Dpo8xX3tADVKE_ywjl_Wizf3VIkMin4PO-tIDzggEhyphenhyphenR139H2y8nKGi7ZSM2gctTbHC6ewdS0FSiYO1HXvJ9liT91wu0wCoiqil5OE8n12UXsFokTLuS5o1w6Y-EaTIzomHeBVk-2bRw/s400/chloe1.bmp" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164999450891373762" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1uVnrWyMm7UxhfPYgr0lzJMWlIyiDvc2XERBpjc3mKzj7CvlxXTCoVYZo1g9bbWhyphenhyphenWVJKap7sMaJ_zYcABYBw4wouk2L-JP-AOnGnsZ9zBBTu78bXmCiAZVUVO1aFMJUgqxmS3I0Wj4Hd/s400/chloe3.bmp" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164999455186341074" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUQeMAUXvY5DYX0Sohyphenhyphenu4pRfMRG4kFOr5QuHjef2ldGd4CyusilzaSbXihNGVQy4lrnLLT0pCY8DlXxcIgsq-Z1jxQ_mPi_EmKv4rhFtEB6E3G93Uv1pEvG_4pCEcwgrqxAULmJ8uslNx8/s400/chloe4.bmp" border="0" /><br /><br /><br />Chloë has now launched a collection of clothing, shoes and sunglasses for New York based brand <a href="http://www.openingceremony.us/">Opening Ceremony</a>. The collection is vintage inspired and influenced in large part by the styles she enjoyed in high school. It could be described as grungy yet feminine with clashing prints, rock'n roll, and 80s high school. It includes floral grunge frocks, micro minis, black mesh tees, zip-up ankle booties and cat-eye sunglasses. She claims the clothes are mix and match and can work from day to night. ‘They’re quirky, something different’.<br /><br />Chloë had two things in mind while designing. Every piece should be something she'd personally want to own as well as something she'd always wanted people to design but never had.<br /><br />The collection is available in Opening Ceremony boutique in New York and LA. In Europe it’s Colette in Paris and Selfridges in London.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5165004630621932770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifZdUNJrTJbffIevQ7Xn3Kxt-YaeKpzllYaNiLthI4rYe0adiGxz1iTNkvLktuVv9OO0NkSJZYJtT-DSlHTjdx2MrDOrnZKiN5yt5gI8Cq69Z1bfqdkc5CMuASIin3H_mL9ux0jlvBXGF1/s400/chloeforoc1.bmp" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5165004634916900082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioHiYg7XgMTUTJIIHBgfi-RH0l_yc6yFYzWF_xqjGHItiLGK_HkzzAm419db6dEN-U9Fu_-DGMVJt8sUw6Q8sz6U5JUILArCYOFNIi6boeHi6CL8pBicq-FOQI-U6UAMJ0V39ZsG6MABZe/s400/chloeforoc2.bmp" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5165004634916900098" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8eRqyupP5s_8wjnz4nE_rhT7VTjkgZXpJjla6wrYKx_UOekabR-z9f_3PDFpyG5WjcE8FflOOzW4xr5KyD0Nev9zNb1Jg276GPUcMZ86XEOA9pZm1gSvUdJIOjaz66ygxeGxAz1LPqMvX/s400/chloeforoc3.bmp" border="0" /><br /><br />Text source <a href="http://stylebites.blogspot.com/2007/10/chlo-sevigny-for-opening-ceremony.html">stylebites</a><br />Photo sources <a href="http://chloesevignyonline.com/">chloesevignyonline.com</a> <a href="http://www.openingceremony.us/OC_Chloe_looks.pdf">openingceremony.com</a>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-52281230087533469522008-02-08T10:43:00.000-08:002008-12-11T05:53:04.114-08:00Thinking Blogger Awards<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKjuG6rT3aGHoP9_-tXkjCFgcgKfBBgOFSNXQ0p05bdyPeRfM3-W0S8074Jt0NmaS2AdsFHta8yEWGeNu-clvMnGyhI7ZtttAg1NS-IQ18Cyjnn98VsJyqCuLbZjj5E7cOFUQyJBtbvFA_/s1600-h/1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164687360879869186" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKjuG6rT3aGHoP9_-tXkjCFgcgKfBBgOFSNXQ0p05bdyPeRfM3-W0S8074Jt0NmaS2AdsFHta8yEWGeNu-clvMnGyhI7ZtttAg1NS-IQ18Cyjnn98VsJyqCuLbZjj5E7cOFUQyJBtbvFA_/s400/1.jpg" border="0" /></a>I was tagged by fashionistakay of <a href="http://weeklyblogette.blogspot.com/">The Weekly Bloggette</a>, so that makes me nominated for the Thinking Blogger Award, am I right? (I'm not quite sure how it works).<br /><br /><div><blockquote>If you get tagged you have to write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think and then you have to put a link to <a href="http://www.thethinkingblog.com/2007/02/thinking-blogger-awards_11.html">THIS</a> post so people can find out where it all started. Finally, just in case you want (optional), you can display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote in one of your sidebars.</blockquote>I don't know if the blogs that I'm gonna tag have already gotten tagged for this award, but I tried to pick the ones that haven't. Anyway, the blogs that I tag are: <a href="http://allurefashion.blogspot.com/">Allure Fashion</a>, <a href="http://fashionyou.blogspot.com/">Fashion You</a>, <a href="http://inspirationinheels.blogspot.com/">Inspiration in Heels</a>, <a href="http://jottingsofafashionista.blogspot.com/">Jottings of a Fashionista</a>, <a href="http://powerrangersgo.blogspot.com/">Power Rangers Go</a>.<br /><br />And I also have to answer these questions:<br /><br /><strong>What’s the story behind the name of your blog and your nickname?</strong><br />Well, I actually had a few names in mind when I got the idea to do a blog. Then I signed up at Blogger, but the names were all taken. So I tried some other names and they were <em>all</em> taken. Finally, when I was becoming seriously desperite, I tried J'adore Vogue and it wasn't taken. I liked it alot, so it became the name. As for the nickname, I couldn't find any non-cheesy nickname so I just had it the blog's name.<br /><br /><strong>Why did you started blogging in the first place?<br /></strong>Firstly, fashion is the thing that lights my day up. I get a chill when I buy new fashion magazines and when fashion week season is coming around. So I just thought, why not make a blog! It wasn't like a sudden decision, I had been thinking about for a while before I actually did it. Secondly, as english is not my first language and my dream is to go to fashion school abroad, I wanted to practice my english writing. And of course it's just a way of showing my opinions and giving my thoughts into the fashion world!<br /><br /><strong>What has been your best blogging experience? What about the worst?</strong><br />The best experience has been all the wonderful comments. It's really heartwarming how people can be nice and uplifting, especially at first. I haven't had a bad blogging experience yet, and I hope it'll stay that way :)<br /><br /><strong>What do you think will happen to your blog in 2008?</strong><br />I'm just going to try to blog as often as I can and make them interesting and fun as well. I just hope that I get more readers and that people are going to like my work.</div>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-32471351180533025772008-02-01T05:23:00.000-08:002008-12-11T05:53:05.289-08:00Inspiration from Africa<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix8kkQCJZQ7lrNyNtc1RyY5JslKOfm8fa6Mh7vzFCVgyPIzPa9lrkqg4QNDLJrHeaxQXsAJZEGZ-Y2sFJxhiUcgjP1rnztJ5LEnIgHGhbQUiBYjbrbByNWM9gdDFoV4AVUAaCmQfsHOCN6/s1600-h/safari-tribal.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162003096514182322" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix8kkQCJZQ7lrNyNtc1RyY5JslKOfm8fa6Mh7vzFCVgyPIzPa9lrkqg4QNDLJrHeaxQXsAJZEGZ-Y2sFJxhiUcgjP1rnztJ5LEnIgHGhbQUiBYjbrbByNWM9gdDFoV4AVUAaCmQfsHOCN6/s400/safari-tribal.bmp" border="0" /></a> <div>One of my favourite trends for summer are the African inspired safari and tribal trends.<br />Designers featured modern tribal influences on their spring runways with wild prints, such as ikat, monochrome and batik, and chunky jewelry.<br />The safari trend has been evolving over the years. I honestly thought it wouldn’t be as big of a trend that it was on the runways. It has kind of started to become a classic, but it doesn't always remain the same. I really like the new versions for spring.<br />It’s not a coincidence that these two trends are linked together. They’re inspired from the same culture and they also look great paired together for a real global-tribal-safari-chic look! </div><div><br /> </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162003105104116930" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGPFrwUJxrkMtWoFL0VnkM5InjPNadlNVOVWDDU50RpbtNVcGxwksiL2LThUG8GqTUUaxZFKO8tBUbDdEgyRbnOJODJLbZuMQgD7jo0XnBp8wVA37DAloT9BphwjpWarU5zvhyPVCYljhyphenhyphen/s400/etro.bmp" border="0" />Etro had a colourful collection and showed a lot of dark moss green. I loved how the green was paired with all kinds of prints and bright colours.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162003117989018834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilBAidHKqkQ213w9DrafFFAqbrvsIyaAqGothezCdOYvkybBIYzSHmaxFSnKIBfwM8CV9GesTFAbCwtpXN5zL_Gn7wyFm9LelCY_lgFnpjS9cMeKDUfM6Q72iU4WkKaaTtK8dC7-JBCWSL/s400/safari.bmp" border="0" />These are more sophisticated looks, but still casual. The colour is neutral in light beige. Bottega Veneta had a suit; cropped pants and a slightly oversized jacket/shirt, the perfect safari outfit. J.Mendel showed the ultimate safari dress dress with big pockets, which is a classic look for this trend. Proenza Schouler had a bit different outfit from the other two, as the buttons gave it a bit of a military vibe.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162003122283986146" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix_G-a9LLIN76-A1yiU1a2xd-c6M9-gwyxqX106lZ5C-OxGYD2OY6SUKhwdHJywNQP51BLK_znw4pBSxc9X0S5r1BQ5UZi-_LcFORk4_WViv_zmz_Yr5tOdVY6cAXc7dNQoXPZPIGLLChX/s400/tribal1.bmp" border="0" />The tribal trend was a big hit on Diane von Furstenberg’s runway. I’m not a big fan of the headscarves, though. The <a href="http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/21647">Mulberry cotton safari dress</a>, also from Net-a-porter is fab. And the perfect <a href="http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/27473">safari cargo pants</a> come from Michael Kors. I've been looking out for shoe trends on the runways for next summer, and think I have a bright idea what's coming in shoes. First, I saw some trends that have been loitering for a few seasons, or even the past years. Then I noticed some new trends. </div><br /><div>Of course, for summer, we wear sandals, flats and the typical summer shoes alot (at least those of us that don't have the sun all-year round). So the first trend I'm going to review are <strong>the gladiator sandals</strong>. They seem to have a long lifetime, as they've been a trend for the past spring/summer seasons. But there's an exception this time. Chanel broke the barrier in their resort 07 collection (seen on MK above). Now they're edgier than ever, and have been called 'super gladiators'. We're talking knee-high, heeled, strappy, patent and two-toned. D&G showed sandals in the same style that has been last summers, but maybe a bit higher. Dries Van Noten had strappy ankle gladiator heels. Givenchy's knee-high gladiator heels are my favourite. I love the uneven straps and their edgy touch. The most extravagant version are the Balenciaga black and white knee-high heels. <a href="http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/27571">Net-A-Porter have sandals from Oscar de la Renta</a>, that cut just above the ankle, and are more plain than the pairs below.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158404876462227714" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlT1Vuqkl32ZY2b1-DBvmKcniRjSpJWBQjoNacmap98nkH07aLhfxrJWxGO7ilgEInpq6uo-hnBpJsfyVvqZ_AnYV6UvyW5_MBxy_AfQFA0Gco12waXw5ePqcpLbSFcD6KPP4d0yFDMko1/s400/gladiatorsandals.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div></div><div>Next trend has also been seen before, and is something I personally love. <strong>The crisscross heels</strong>. They're often in platform style and have a peeptoe. The crisscross can be everything from thin to chunky, and it can be one cross or more. Dsquared2 had a thin crisscross strap and is a rather elegant choice. Burberry showed them with socks, which is a nice alternative to this trend. Anna Sui's version is colourful and Thakoon had a nice pair that's a bit different from the other three. Also, check out <a href="http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/31067">Marni's Crisscross Platform Slingbacks</a> from Net-A-Porter.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158404876462227730" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCMhfKg2Z0gWjKadB41Dm2XEcnqDH9W-SFz7tpWNg0pQqe-Tmm5YJ_JmPa904oFM6SyqcLLG3BN1exNCWB3XDFTKPfKNtQjzw7pIQZnd7fikzGLXk0NbRoyxXY3BpaRPi43wHSPzhOsEZw/s400/crisscross.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div></div><div>Then we have <strong>the classic</strong> <strong>mary janes</strong> which probably everyone has in some edition. I <em>loooved</em> Giambattista Valli's pink sky-high platforms, which Mary Kate Olsen has been seen wearing. Alexander McQueen also showed pink mary janes, but in a snake skin for a bit more raw texture. Missoni's girly, grey mary janes were more down to earth than the previous mentioned. Yves Saint Laurent then had the simpliest version of all.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158404880757195042" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTG3Xsgr3kU_WoO4prIIW95z6vfDNyWvAQcUJe-buPuvCofn3oUf9C-RC1pVF-ijghXWxX3wdyrwbluccXFpI3tfUINgh0LNH1i5MaQyUbc5E4zgbOSvYx-SeH0eSBr2M37ToNR9cD07O2/s400/maryjanes.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div></div><div><strong>The T-bar</strong> is a trend similiar to the mary janes. Burberry showed a luxurios piece, Lanvin's chunky T-bar was my personal favourite, and Zac Posen showed a glamorous sparkly version.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158404880757195058" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR8TR-UEoqbjKtl8uFA-_bakj6dMBHtgp6qtjjvtSgScC1_SC3f5DkCWL6jof9m82k6k_WJJS-A-Ci3o1Y411GQr64a1r9c1GM1sm_oxUIzcc5Yu3I7LwItIOcL6K2yvTOwoXBzTklfE8F/s400/t-bar.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div></div><div>The first of the new trends is <strong>the buckle</strong>. I'm not saying it's a big trend spotting, but it hasn't been seen like this before. Jean Paul Gaultier had a dramatic pair of grey heels with big buckles. Marni's two-tone colour heels are chic and stylish. Lanvin showed a brown pair that have a bit of a safari feeling. Last but not least, Gucci had a gorgeous pair in strong green with buckles on the side.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158406555794440578" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimtcA7QHq7pjnJcx18e4hggRoVjNvnoeetzTh9t1_p-iKWIQuuKRJ-Wzk68cSMnLpaDfBEipqLrvvdh5nvGaQCOA6z0olylH0NFgJIdL4nu8k0EicQEykcLCFqi99nddOPnQth_2zIYNzV/s400/buckles.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div></div><div>The second trend I spotted were <strong>thin laces</strong>. At Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and Peter Som the laces had fine bows. But Givenchy's laces were more of a leather straps. The Balenciaga pair is a new take on the oxfords, and Peter Som's also. Alexander McQueen had the laces at, and above the ankle, which I love.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158406560089407890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLNkfBr_tGnBk3TqMej3ISItHppylWM6qilB8SSKrGJUpNgn2lwapbMA17I_QZTKpRHGBZMxLqpEzK1qWPLcV3J5kRwR5fuI9glIZAMtUJQ10hXbprvQ6Mhyg53EUhiZxou2gwmJJ3JNJA/s400/thinlaces.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div></div><div>Notice that these are only runway trends. Of course we have great shoe designers (if not the best), like Christian Louboutin, Azzedine Alaia, Pierre Hardy and many more, that I've not included in to post, but all make great shoes. You can tell me in the comments section if you've spotted some other shoe trends for spring from the runways or just from the above designers!</div></div>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-51932117255579614722008-01-19T14:41:00.000-08:002008-12-11T05:53:07.907-08:00Designer Pieces on Sale<div>I decided to check out the sale at Net-A-Porter.com and see if there were some affordable things. The 80's style trend was back in 2007, with designers like Christopher Kane and Proenza Schouler showing it on their spring/summer runways. It was also seen for fall/winter 07 and though it wasn't all over the runways for next summer, there are still some designers that have their body-con dresses as a trademark.</div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154614061017366498" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8JjPgcDnfLcPrTlYdW9nIJioSK9yvOJrYBhrz5UQlQmSx57AjpNLuHSINys-rrF_BuMNvBt-y9Yco3cbsVrZoN5RP8Aw6YYDJx9Z5qmxsUj_RaD6nXyAC6Ffzl0_0ijQ7EyvK_sDn44zg/s400/bodycon07.bmp" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154614061017366514" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfYH7IcI7HptkQvwNXUtigfnWb4HVI_w2Th7EMxuREIy0UkPGM5rGikQpAbP0ROQwmcbDh0pbdXh4Kl7fq0p-OPPZ3uLvH3cyVtC2_tM53laJ_4fgNF21zW1-sqwSWfVhpK7YNiey-xxdB/s400/bodycon08.JPG" border="0" /><br /><div align="left"></div><div align="left">Body-con is all about clothes that enhance the lines of a woman's body and leaving very little to the imagination. The trend was defined in the 80s, when designers like Hervé Léger and Azzedine Alaia created the bandage dress. The dress has been popular with the celebrities on the red carpet over the years, especially from Hervé Léger. Lindsay Lohan has worn a few, Victoria Beckham also and Kim Kardashian is a big fan. </div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154614065312333826" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYAcEtFEtA2aZy1ba6-2-kZ-aMjTpu26HrUM0j5DvwJaTWbv-5zDpYTi7aCeOxJ4-JuVCmBPDXFqk4VFRVUauZbJhk4QDHhQD4g-nMthE3RmXjHN3fIplN9CZVrEl-JVlpX8yjPTXXCjIt/s400/bodyconcelebs.JPG" border="0" /><br /><p>Body-con is a style best suited to curvy, slim and athletic figures. It doesn't suit a large frame. Figure-hugging dresses sit best on strong-looking womanly bodies, with good legs. It's a power look and needs confident.<br />You can work this trend in a few different ways. If you've got some lovely curves and you feel good about your body, you should definitely try a tight version. If your more self concious, you should try a version that's got some details and not made of a stretchy fabric. And as you know, black is a slimming colour, so try a dark colour to hide any imperfections.</p><div align="left">Then there's the body-con bandage skirt. It's great if you want to show your legs but keep the upper body more hidden. A loose blouse, for example, is great. Nicole Richie wore it a lot last summer and Ashley Olsen has also been seen wearing it. The body-con skirt is so much more relaxed than the dress and more suitable for daytime.</div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154614065312333842" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUMl6hXFqCg2AefkcXa-kEJSKsJy-pDgtmHStGKTKN1z0Gij4B-KQ_bmzlTnKLZNX-leu7hEG0M6Dc3qK6uI6RfrMaIUM5wuaZj-HPLmBr49I0zypnot8cTysMi6cRECnjo7LhxtpSsvtT/s400/bodyconskirt.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154614245700960290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2RReU5oEs5RC5R5BTRhROzXVsE6xMf0T9aDB-gHFe_k1Zk1Y1jY0x0n-MWrmRt_tB7aS0vecyRAUbNWrGuEx1Ky2RuISvLFDhtnamfI8fd8C0ucfrTgnvB8vZH4wwln-zZ24aY_ASLFg_/s400/bodyconskirtceleb.bmp" border="0" /><br /><div align="left">The main thing doing this trend is not to go overboard. I personally always try to buy classic, basic pieces that I know I can use for at least a few seasons. When I’m looking for something more trendy I first try to see if I find it at a more affordable price. If it’s something that is really this-season but still could work into the next season I’m more willing to splurge.<br />My style is a bit casual and can sometimes be a bit simple. But I do like statement pieces, colour and chunky jewellry to give life to my outfits, especially for the night.<br /><br /><strong>A few of my favourites basic safe choices I always have:<br /></strong>- <strong>A V-neck t-shirt</strong> in white – slightly oversized. Preferably in grey too.<br />- <strong>Basic knits</strong>; a V-neck, cowl neck and an oversized cardigan.<br />- <strong>Black tights</strong>. Although leggings were a big trend for a few seasons I still kept my loyalty to the tights. I just think they’re more classy. And now that leggings are out and tights are in I’m getting different versins. They’ve come more of a statement, like grey rib tights or black with a bit of a metallic flair.<br />- <strong>The perfect pair of jeans</strong> that suit my body. Your basic, perfect pair of jeans should work with everything. You should not let the latest trends rule your decision, only use them as inspiration. When buying a classic pair of jeans, be ready to spend some money, as some of the cheaper jeans aren’t made of quality denim. Dark, unwashed denim is best for a classic pair.<br />- <strong>Casual day dresses</strong> in neutral colours (black, brown, grey...). They’re in soft and flowy fabrics and are great for change of seasons, since you can always wear long sleeve tees underneath and thick tights to make them warmer.<br />- <strong>The LBD</strong>. Everyone knows this, the little black dress is a must in every woman’s closet. It is perfect when you’re in an outfit crisis, and is always a safe choice.</p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152834505742778290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE8WqXz6I-OrQfOG0R6ys08R2vJoH64H6bbkFFmPHi0sUg3X51ZjZUiJInnpHiu1UoBQqUC9eLEH6uoWKo1ZtL0gxiWYHPpNBwEgcTzw59BMDQamHfquZRred8SOce2AI-7ZAZykCnNnnW/s400/basics.bmp" border="0" /><br />These choices are something that I start with as my base and then I just build on that to make it more interesting. I’m not a big fan of colour, but I always try to wear some colour or if I’m wearing head-to-toe black I play with texture. </p><p><strong>Shoes </strong></p><p>Ballet flats are adorable, chic and comfy for daytime. Although some strict fashionistas avoid being seen public in flats (ehm, Victoria Beckham) I really like them. They’re perfect with jeans and casual sun dresses, but you should not wear them with cocktail dresses. They’re not really dressy, so in most cases their not suitable for any fancy outfit. When it comes to heels I don’t like plain black stilettos. Don’t get me wrong, they’re okay, but I believe that shoes should be exciting. Of course thay can be black, but at least they should have some texture, something to make them interesting. When you’re wearing a classic LBD, you must wear attention grabbing shoes. The dress is not the main thing, so make the most out of it and wear a pair of stylish pumps. </p><p><strong>Accessories</strong> </p><p>For a normal day I often wear a printed scarf. I like the way it can spice up my outfit. I can be wearing only basics, and the outfits looks really boring, but the scarf brings the life too it.<br />As for jewellry, I don’t wear a lot of it during the day. Just some diamond stone earrings and maybe a thin gold chain necklace. For the night I’ll add a cuff or bangles and skip either the necklace or earrings. I don’t like wearing jewellry on wrist, fingers, neck and ears all at the same time.<br />In the handbag department, as I’m a student I can’t wear a structured handbag, so I choose a tote for the day. For the night I like clutches in all sizes, colours and shapes. </p><p>It depends on your style and what you like when it comes to jewellry and accessories. Some people don’t like wearing them and just want to keep things simple, while others pile on the jewellry.<br />If you are more fond of vintage and glamour, and like the styles of Mary-Kate Olsen and the stylist Rachel Zoe; vintage cuffs, gold chain necklaces, cocktail rings and diamond earrings are your kind of jewellry.<br />If you are more of a street chic and are more into less-is-more and casual style (think Lauren Conrad and Kate Bosworth); a scarf, jewelled stone earrings and a few bangles are probably your choices. </p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152830004617052050" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJdzHGN0uc6USKSwSFF-v8Slmuz9korlCe0qRCHUjLUjT99j-JQpAP75TwCSOqvZNykqOKAJLJdqBV3K8Z2J2VGNcAHguF2CuSVFwRn8Le2LMSGnFnOYUCD60mp4LgRLLzJuhvOOGRPyzN/s400/lcmk2.bmp" border="0" /></p><p><strong>Inspiration<br /></strong><br />The tips I’ve been giving are something that many of you know already, but I really wanted to describe my style and show you what I like so you can get inspiration. Sometimes we’re stuck in the same trends, in the same routine of dressing. Trust me, I’m not perfect when it comes to my own style, but I'm always looking around me and seeking inspiration.<br />Inspiration is all around us. You can get it by following fashion shows and designers, reading magazines, check out what celebrites are wearing, watch other people’s style on the streets, go to vintage stores and flea markets, see what the high streets stores have to offer and so on. You don’t have to be a fashion victim or a fashion know-it-all to be stylish. You just have to look around you, because you can find inspiration in everyting!<br /><br /><strong>I’d love it if you’d describe your style in a few words and tell me what are your basic choices, what are your splurges this season and where you get most of your inspiration from!</strong></p>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1139267976720994169.post-121811367187404262007-12-31T09:43:00.001-08:002008-12-11T05:53:11.001-08:00New Year<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzuMvVlmwDO40mUkrDOSE2a_W4DDoHk157iU39F5HiATc1DZAdVUcO7P6h5zCa-PvVOoKCOyhNCj_ZW61iydL2dEEiX5tKPZlkPsJYDCE2g0pTy78AC_2rszha2R1FaSVmlu4pQlJjyNeK/s1600-h/happy%20new%20year%20fireworks.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150194269086842754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzuMvVlmwDO40mUkrDOSE2a_W4DDoHk157iU39F5HiATc1DZAdVUcO7P6h5zCa-PvVOoKCOyhNCj_ZW61iydL2dEEiX5tKPZlkPsJYDCE2g0pTy78AC_2rszha2R1FaSVmlu4pQlJjyNeK/s400/happy%2520new%2520year%2520fireworks.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><p align="center"><span style="font-size:130%;color:#330099;"><strong>Check out my last post of 2007 below!</strong></span></p>Hildurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04850602605474174201noreply@blogger.com5
